Wholesale Success Manual

FamilyFarmed is pleased to announce the 5th edition of its publication, Wholesale Success: A Farmer’s Guide to Food Safety, Selling , Postharvest Handling, and Packing Produce.

The recently revised, 316-page book is the definitive training source on selling into wholesale markets. It includes topics such as: Calculating Return on Investment; Cleaning, Drying, and Curing Produce; Traceability; Packing Shed Design; and Maintaining the Cold Chain.

Wholesale Success builds the capacity of farmers to meet the burgeoning demand for locally/regionally grown fruits and vegetables. Adopting best practices in food safety, postharvest handling, packing, and business management will help farmers be more efficient and profitable. It will also give buyers an incentive to increase their purchases of locally grown food.

FamilyFarmed has developed a training workshop based on the Wholesale Success manual and seeks training partners across the US to host a Wholesale Success Training.

We are available to train your group on the great information in Wholesale Success! For more information on the manual or trainings, call us at 312-874-7360.

Direct Market Success

Direct Market Success is the latest expansion of FamilyFarmed’s impactful effort to train farmers across the United States and help them achieve sustainable success.

Direct Market Success
is a reference guide for farms selling in direct market venues such as farmers markets, CSAs and farm stands. Closely modeled after FamilyFarmed’s Wholesale Success manual and training program, Direct Market Success is intended to be the definitive farmer’s guide to selling, food safety, postharvest handling, and logistics for farmers who are seeking to enter and grow in this burgeoning consumer sector, mainly composed of farmers markets, CSAs, online retail sales, and farm stands.

The manual is at the core of a program to directly train farmers — including many of the generation of newer and younger farmers who our nation so needs — in workshops to be held across the nation. It will thus play a  role parallel to that of Wholesale Success, the definitive training source for farmers selling into wholesale markets. Wholesale Success has been used by FamilyFarmed to directly train more than 14,500 farmers nationwide, and has been purchased by many more producers and buyers as an essential reference guide.

FamilyFarmed has developed a training workshop based on the Direct Market Success manual and seeks training partners across the US to host a Direct Market Success Training.
